The rain held off and the people of Orpington turned out in large numbers for the Service of Remembrance at the Orpington War Memorial.

Among the crowd there were a number of Labour Party members and Chris Taylor, Chair of the Orpington Labour Party, laid a wreath on behalf of the Labour Party.

Speaking after the service Nigel de Gruchy, who laid a wreath in 2014, said

“It’s sad that ongoing wars and conflict throughout the world mean that the act of remembrance remains relevant”.
