Cameron’s Compassion….

Nigel de Gruchy queries David Cameron’s theory in bringing peace and stability in the Middle East

Orpington Labour Party Secretary Nigel de Gruchy writes in Friday 4th September’s Guardian

Is it irony or ignorance that drives David Cameron, the apostle of “compassionate conservatism”, to observe that: “The most important thing to do is to try to bring peace and stability to that part of the world” (Cameron: we can’t take any more people fleeing from war, 3 September)? He ignores the history of one disastrous British intervention after another in Middle East affairs, including his own decision to lead the bombing of Libya – not to mention his (thus far) thwarted ambition to bomb Syria and his appetite to join delegations selling arms to the region.
